About Us
The American Legion Riders Post 298 is a proud group of American Legion members who share a passion for riding and a deep commitment to serving veterans, their families, and our community. United by service, camaraderie, and patriotism, we use the freedom of the open road to make a meaningful difference close to home.

Our primary mission is to support veterans—especially those facing physical challenges, financial hardship, or life transitions. One of our most impactful initiatives is building wheelchair-accessible ramps for disabled veterans and their families, helping ensure safe, independent access to their homes and improving quality of life.

Beyond veteran-focused efforts, Post 298 is actively involved in community events and charitable activities. We participate in memorial rides, fundraising events, parades, and local outreach programs that honor military service while strengthening community connections. Whether supporting youth programs, assisting local families in need, or partnering with other organizations, we are dedicated to service beyond ourselves.

The American Legion Riders Post 298 stands for honor, respect, and service. Through teamwork, volunteerism, and fellowship, we proudly continue the American Legion’s legacy of supporting those who have served and giving back to the community we call home.

Our Story
The American Legion Riders (ALR) were founded in 1993 by members of American Legion Post 396 in Garden City, Michigan. Created as a motorcycle association within The American Legion, the Riders bring together Legionnaires, Sons of The American Legion, and American Legion Auxiliary members who share a passion for motorcycling and service.

From its beginning, the American Legion Riders have focused on supporting veterans, active-duty service members, and their families, while promoting patriotism, community involvement, and motorcycle safety. Over time, the program expanded nationwide, with chapters now operating under local American Legion posts across the United States.

Today, the American Legion Riders are widely recognized for their role in charity rides, funeral escorts, honor guard participation, and fundraising efforts, including significant support for programs such as veterans’ assistance, youth initiatives, and national causes like Legacy Scholarship Fund. Their commitment to service reflects the core values of The American Legion—service, honor, and dedication to those who have served.
